Individual Counseling

    Adults

Are you feeling unsatisfied or stuck in your life? Do you find yourself daydreaming about what life will look like when you meet the right person, find the perfect job, or live in the perfect neighborhood, but wish you could just be happy right now? It may feel like you’ve already taken all the steps you were supposed to take, but the mountain keeps getting higher. My goal is to help you find what is blocking that happiness or keeping you stuck, and overcome it.

Some common themes we may address include:

    Anxiety

    Personal & Generational Trauma

    Perfectionism & People Pleasing

    Codependency

    Setting Boundaries

    Empowering Healthy Relationships

    Nervous System Regulation

    Cultural/Societal Barriers

    Breaking Unhelpful Cycles

Self Esteem & Identity (LGBTQIA+ Affirming)

  • A young woman sitting cross-legged on a red couch, listening attentively during a therapy session or counseling. A therapist with a notebook and pen is partially visible, taking notes in front of her. The room has wooden flooring, a black coffee cup on a small wooden table, and decorative shelves with plants and ornaments.

    Teens (Ages 13+)

If you’ve landed on this page as a parent, I’m guessing you feel at a loss to help your teen. You’ve done everything you can to be the best parent, and you don’t understand why your child is anxious or unhappy.

If you’re a teenager that has found me, I’m guessing you feel lost or confused, struggling to find your identity in a world that is so chaotic and unpredictable. You’re under so much pressure to succeed, excel, and be perfect, while also being true to yourself (whatever that means). I’ve been there, and I want to help you work through this brutally challenging phase of life.

Common themes I address with teens include:

    Peer, Family, & School Pressure

    Feeling Misunderstood

Gender and Sexuality Related Issues (LGBTQIA+ Affirming)

    Self Esteem

    Perfectionism

    Family Communication

    Relationship/Friendship Conflicts

    Trauma

EMDR

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy is an extensively researched, evidence-based form of treatment proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing symptoms including anxiety, depression, phobias, and panic disorders.

If you’ve tried several different therapists or forms of treatment, including medications, and you still feel stuck with your symptoms, EMDR may be just what you need. By processing the original events that have conditioned your brain (in a safe and supportive environment), EMDR can help to re-wire the neuropathways that trigger your fight, flight, freeze, and fawn reactions.

You can learn more about this treatment method at https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/, or book a free consultation with me to see if this is the right treatment for you.

Fees

I am in-network with the following private insurance companies: Anthem, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Sentara.

I encourage you to call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out what your benefits are so there aren’t any scary financial surprises. Ask about your co-pay & if you have a deductible to meet before services will be covered.

Unfortunately most insurance companies do not consider Couples or Marital counseling as “medically necessary”, and will not reimburse for the 90-minute sessions required for the Couples Therapy I provide.

Good Faith Estimate: Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. This will be provided to you before your first session if you do not plan to claim services with an insurance plan.
